Bandar Baru Ayer Itam School
We hold the distinction of being the first private developer commissioned by the Malaysian government to build a secondary school. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (S.M.K) Bandar Baru Air Itam consists of four blocks of four-storey buildings with essential administrative offices, classes and science laboratories.
The contract was awarded in 1994 and promptly delivered two years later when we handed over the school to the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Ministry of Education.
Bandar Baru Air Itam Health Clinic
Among the facilities available to residents of our Bandar Baru Ayer Itam township, it has to be said that the six-storey Health Clinic has been one of our proudest undertakings yet. The project was completed and handed over to the Public Works Department (JKR) in March 2010. Located in a strategic area, it provides residents with modern healthcare facilities and professional medical expertise without having to venture too far from the comforts of home.
Bandar Baru Ayer Itam Police Housing & Police Station
Farlim Group (Malaysia) Berhad signed an agreement with the Malaysian Government on the 25th July 1990 to build 49 blocks of five-storey walk-up apartments consisting of 980 units in Bandar Baru Ayer Itam, Penang to house rank and file police personnel. The development totalled over 15 acres.
Integrated facilities
This project took two years to complete and included facilities and services such as adequate parking spaces for cars and motorcycles, a total of eight children’s playgrounds, nine badminton and ‘sepak takraw’ courts, as well as three community halls and three ‘suraus’ (prayer halls).
Improved security
We’ve credited this project as the single most important factor for the decline in crime rates in the township and Penang. Before the police housing was developed, the site had been overlooking a crime-infested area, one well-known for its unsavoury characters. Our Chairman decided that extreme measures had to be taken and planned for the police housing to be an immediate deterrent to the criminals once it was completed.
It is clear that the development of both the police housing and the police station has had a direct effect on the lives of the families and businesses that call Bandar Baru Ayer Itam their home.
